CONCERT FOR STRINGS

ENG-ITA

Concert for Strings, 2012. Participatory installation commissioned by Iuav University of Venice, curated by Cornelia Lauf and Angela Vettese, Venice Art Night, Italy

Who determines a great work of architecture is often well aware of the effect the architecture will have on those who live with it, but on the contrary, those who live with it are often unaware of any influence on their behavior. I created a curtain to mark the entrance of the University IUAV of Venice, a seat of power, including military and ecclesiastical, from 1602 until today. The strings of the curtain latch on to anyone who passes through it, tracing in a large performance of mass the movement of each participant within the space, mapping their behavior and at the same time contrasting the chaotic human movement with the static architecture.
