Ponte Pirata, 2013. Site specific participatory installation curated by Monica Bosaro and commissioned by Claire Tancons and Cake Away for FAR FESTA – Nuove Feste Veneziane, Corteo de Casteo II, during the 43 Festa de San Piero de Casteo, Venice

Ponte Pirata was a temporary installation consisting of thousands of downloaded photographs of works created by famous artists at the top of the contemporary art system. Anyone could take one or more photographs during the festival, transforming the installation until it eventually disappeared. Every picture taken was part of a collective and widespread gift. The work aimed to combine ideas of “classical” relationality with methods derived from virtual contemporary practices such as piracy and free sharing.

CORTEO DE CASTEO is a collaboration between curator Claire Tancons and Venice-based curatorial collective CAKE AWAY with partnerships from Università IUAV of Venice, Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, Laboratorio Occupato Morion, Comitato Festa de San Piero de Casteo and with support from Comune di Venezia and Municipalità di Venezia.
